Feed 10 of your hungry and homeless neighbors this season for only $18.30!
A hot, nutritious Christmas dinner for only $1.83? That’s right!
On Saturday, December 22nd, San Diego Rescue Mission provided more than 1,000 meals at a Christmas feast for all homeless and poor men, women, and children in need from throughout San Diego. Mayor Jerry Sanders came by to greet our guests and helped to serve some meals!
Beginning in the morning, volunteers from local churches and businesses canvassed San Diego’s neighborhoods to personally invite all homeless they encountered back for the feast.
Christmas carols, delicious hot breadsticks, and volunteers welcomed our guests as they arrived and entered our plaza.
During the meal, our own Men’s Center praise band helped get the crowd into the Christmas spirit. Current Rescue Mission clients periodically shared their testimonies to encourage everyone in attendance to consider entering one of the Mission’s programs. Our hope is that many of them will come here soon and get the tools they need for long-term recovery and independence!
Our kitchen prepared a scrumptious traditional Christmas feast that included:
Salad
Caesar Salad
Dinner
Traditional Ham Dinner
Potatoes Au Gratin
Green beans
Beverages
Fruit Juice donated by Hollandia Dairy
Coffee
Dessert
Assorted pies
Lastly, none of our guests left without:
Warm smiles from volunteers and staff
Small care packages containing hygiene products, socks, toys for the children, etc.
A reminder that God loves them!
Our hot meals for the homeless continue each and every day of the year, including another special Christmas meal for our long-term program members on Christmas day! Please help us ensure we can feed everyone in need this Christmas season.
