3:45-4:45 pm – Candlelight Vigil:
San Diego County Administration Center

1600 Pacific Highway, San Diego, 92101
A procession to the vigil will depart from the San Diego Rescue Mission at 3:00 pm and participants will walk approximately a mile stopping for prayers at 3 churches and ministry sites in the procession to the County Building. This year marks our 13th Annual Candlelight Vigil, honoring the men and women who die, homeless and alone, on the streets each year.
From Oct 1, 2013 – September 30, 2014 56 homeless individuals lost their lives on the streets of San Diego. Participants carry a pair of shoes with a tag attached, listing each deceased person’s name. The candlelight vigil begins when the procession arrives at the San Diego County Building. Each individual’s name will be read aloud.
We hope you join us for this year’s event.
One of our most beloved events happens every three months at the San Diego Rescue Mission.
Our next graduation ceremony is scheduled for Friday, October 24, 2014.
That’s when the men and women who have successfully completed their 12-month residential recovery programs are recognized in a special graduation ceremony. The event celebrates the accomplishments each graduate has made, with God’s help, during their year-long journey. Current program participants also attend to honor their brothers and sisters and to be inspired by the possibilities that await them.
As part of the ceremony one male and one female graduate each shares their story of recovery. A local Christian band or church choir provides entertainment for the day and, of course, all graduates receive an official diploma.

Three times each year, the San Diego Rescue Mission opens its doors to the homeless, poor, and lonely men, women and children in the San Diego community to celebrate the holidays. Held at Thanksgiving, Christmas and Easter, our special community holiday meal events offer hundreds of home-cooked meals and entertainment for those who might otherwise have no food, companionship, or celebration during the holidays.
More information can be found on our holiday events page.
Due to the generosity of many volunteers who have already registered, servers are not needed, but we would appreciate help with outreach from 8:30-11 AM. To volunteer at an upcoming holiday meal, contact email@example.com or call 619-819-1897.
Interested in a tour of the Mission? Monthly tours are offered on the 2nd Monday of the month at 6PM and the 2nd Thursday of the month at 12:00 noon. Come spend 45 minutes or so and find out more about the Mission and our programs. Spaces are limited and you must reserve a space with Debbie.
