At 2 pm, the doors opened, and hungry guests excitedly entered. Herb Johnson, our President/CEO, blessed the meal and prayed for everyone present. Dinner began with Caesar salad and rolls. Then volunteers served heaping plates of fresh carved ham, potatoes, and green beans. Dessert consisted of peach cobbler and cheesecake. Current Rescue Mission program members sat Men’s Center Graduate Wes Wilkes and his friend Audrey sang beautiful praise songs for our guests to enjoy. Lastly, each of our guests left with a care package or Easter basket – filled with toiletry items for the adults and special toys and stuffed animals for the little ones. Thank you for your support that made this meal possible! You helped give Easter hope to hundreds of struggling men, women, and children through your prayers and generosity. God bless! Our Easter banquet may be over, but hundreds of desperate women, children, and families come to us for meals and shelter each week year round.  |
On Saturday, April 4, San Diego Rescue Mission provided early Easter hope and cheer at its Annual Easter Community Outreach meal for the homeless. Hundreds of hungry and struggling women, men, and children enjoyed a delicious home-cooked ham dinner. Your support made a real difference for these San Diegans in need!
