Chonda Pierce Brings Live Comedy Tour to San Diego
Chonda Pierce, the comedic force behind five gold-certified comedy albums, brings her live tour to San Diego this Friday in an unusual pairing of comedy and homelessness. Seven percent (7%) of the proceeds from Chonda's San Diego show will go directly to the San Diego Rescue Mission, a premier provider of comprehensive rehabilitation services.

While demand for its services has increased, the San Diego Rescue Mission (SDRM) has not seen an increase in its budget. The Mission relies entirely on donations from private businesses and individuals. As a result, the facility is now struggling to maintain the level of service it provides to more than 370 homeless each day. According to Herb Johnson, president of the Mission, "We must improve our outreach to San Diego donors and businesses who have a vested interest in preventing homelessness; we hope laughter is an effective vehicle to draw more attention to this growing social illness."

In contrast to many homeless programs, the Rescue Mission focuses on providing long-term solutions to homelessness by giving its clients the life skills and training necessary to stay off the streets and contribute to society.
