MORGAN HILL, Calif. (Nov. 21, 2006) – The Thomas Kinkade Company is encouraging people this Thanksgiving Holiday Weekend to donate a new or used coat to warm San Diego area homeless families this holiday season. The Company is partnering with San Diego Rescue Mission between Friday, November 24 and Sunday, December 10 to collect coats at gallery locations throughout the area.
Individuals who bring a new or used coat to participating Thomas Kinkade galleries will receive a free copy of the book "The Art of Creative Living" by Thomas Kinkade (a $19.99 retail value) and a redemption certificate good for $100 off the cost of a frame for a limited edition Thomas Kinkade canvas.
"Thanksgiving is the time of year when Americans take a day to be thankful for the blessings bestowed upon us," says Thomas Kinkade. "We are encouraging everyone to share the light of warmth this holiday season by giving a new or used coat to a homeless San Diego family."
The San Diego Rescue Mission was established in 1955. It is a nonprofit organization dedicated to serving the poor and homeless. It is the oldest program of its kind in San Diego. The Mission's long-term programs provide the physical necessities, vocational training, and spiritual encouragement needed to truly turn their lives around. The San Diego Rescue Mission prepares nearly 350,000 free meals and provides over 120,000 free nights of shelter each year, serving thousands of San Diego's homeless.
"We are delighted to be partnering with the Thomas Kinkade Company on this coat drive. It has become a San Diego tradition to reach out to the homeless on this holiday season and share our bounty with those who have so little," said Herb Johnson, President and CEO of the San Diego Rescue Mission. "Even with the temperate weather, warm clothing is still a physical necessity for San Diego area homeless individuals and families this time of year."
