San Diego Mayor Jerry Sanders Joins the San Diego Rescue Mission To Serve Annual Christmas Meal to
Thousands of Homeless San Diegans

WHAT: The Honorable Mayor of San Diego, Jerry Sanders and the San Diego Rescue Mission will serve over 1,300 homeless men, women and children a Christmas meal on Saturday, December 22nd. Over 100 volunteers will help distribute hot meals and personal necessities to those in need.

The annual event has been feeding homeless in San Diego since 1955. This year’s Christmas Banquet will offer live entertainment, caroling and toys for the children. Volunteers expect to serve over 1,300 dinners, that’s equivalent to more than 900 pounds of ham, 250 pounds of broccoli and 200 pounds of candied yams.

WHO: The San Diego Rescue Mission is a non-profit shelter committed to serving the needs of the poor, addicted, abused, and homeless, providing shelter and services for many of the 10,000 homeless adults in San Diego County including nearly 60 children.
