"When I came here I found God and a new life."
Before I came to the mission I was in hell. Living in "sin". It started with beer, the women, then Pot. It made me feel better. I would smoke some with friends and all was well. Many of my friends smoked pot and drank. Then came a new friend and my new friend's name was Meth and I fell in love. My life started going by faster and faster. The next thing I knew I was in prison for 6 years. The long arm of the law had my butt. I prayed for God to help, so I started to read the Bible and one night I asked God, "Lord, Jesus Christ, come into my life." So I knew I needed help and a friend of mine told me to come to the San Diego Rescue Mission. The great part of it all is that friend I told you about is God, my Lord Jesus. Ever since that day my life has changed from hell to heaven. The Mission helped me find God and a new and happier life. I've been 2 years clean and the Mission has been the best thing for me. God blessed me.
The San Diego Rescue Mission is the hardest program I've ever been in. That's because it wants to help, not like a lot of the other programs that do it for the money. The Mission helps you find the Lord. When I came here I found God and a new life, I lost my brothers then my mom, then my dad. Now I have a God that loves me so much he died for me and that is the best blessing and the best friend a man can have. The Rescue Mission is the family I need. It did so much for me. It made me see life the way it should be, not the way I used to view it. Thanks to the Mission I now have a home church. While here I completed the following classes:
Drug Education: In that class I learned that there is life and happiness without
drugs.
Life Skills: This class helps you get a better hold on life. The teacher shows you that you can make it in the real world. "Thank you, (staff member's name)."
Basic Education: It helps re-program the brain. "Thank you, (staff member's name)."
Then the Big One, I needed the most in my new life:
Discipleship Class: This class is hard, but fun. It's 10 weeks of classes of the Father, the Son, and the Holy Ghost. "Thank you, (staff member's name)."
