"God has used the Rescue Mission's classes to prepare me for my re-entry back into the real world."

God has used the Rescue Mission's classes to prepare me for my re-entry back into the real world. The Boundaries and Relationships class has taught me to protect my "pearls." Anger Management has taught me how to identify my "triggers" and to stay calm during an emotionally charged situation. Recovery for Life has taught me how to detect my self-destructive behavior patterns when I am bored or upset and to channel that same energy into something productive and constructive. Positive Choices has reminded me about the importance of goal setting, how it creates feelings of success, the power of positive thinking, and positive speech. Parenting and doing CDC has reassured me that I will not repeat the cycle of abuse as long as I continue to take parenting classes, educate myself on all the different parenting styles, and view being a parent as a privilege and an opportunity to love and raise one of God's most precious possessions - the children. Grief Share has educated me on all the different types and stages of grief, enabled me to grieve and release the last of the old abusive relationships I had with my parents, sister, and friends so that I can make room in my life for the new, healthy loving relationships God has in store for me. Bible study, Devotions, and Chapel have taught me the importance of fellowship amongst like-minded believers, rooted me in my own beliefs about God, and to have unwavering faith in His special plan for my life. Work Therapy has given me an opportunity to redeem myself for all the bad customer service I provided in the past. Being an intern has been my way of proving to God that I can be a humble, selfless, loving, fair servant and leader.

Even though my recovery process at the Rescue Mission has been an emotional and mental roller coaster, I know this is all God's will and preparation for the new, fulfilling, loving, fun, prosperous life God has in store for me. I plan to take the next three months of my second phase to explore all the opportunities of my new life to see where God takes me. I plan to search and interview for personally fulfilling, prosperous job opportunities, visit various churches to find a home church, and get back in shape after eating all the mashed potatoes we get here at the Rescue Mission!

In conclusion, I am above and beyond grateful for the classes, staff, and residents of the San Diego Rescue Mission. I know if I need somebody to give me good healthy advice I know I can go to Ms. Jackie., Ms. LaJuanda., Ms. Doris., Mrs. Lucia., Ms. Diane., and Ms. Rashauna. I know I can go to Ms. Karen for anything - even a battery for my truck - thanks Ms. Karen. I have a warm bed, hot water to take a shower, free hygiene products, more food than I could ever even think of eating, access to washing machines and dryers for free, computers, free cute clothes from donations, cool roommates, sisters that keep me entertained with the daytime drama, laughing when I am sad, and ears to listen when I need to vent, $15.00 every two weeks, money to buy a bus pass, and I know I am safe from all harm while I am here. It has taken me 5 months to call this place home, but this is home to me because this is the first place that I have ever been treated fairly, listened to, and spiritually, emotionally, and mentally empowered. God answered my prayer from last year by divinely guiding me to San Diego Rescue Mission and has proven that He is who He says He is over and over and over again. He is the Beginning and the End. He is faithful. He will do what He says He will do and then some. He is real, and He loves me just because I exist. Psalm 34 : 3-4 "Come, let us tell of the Lord's greatness; let us exalt His name together. I prayed to the Lord, and He answered me, freeing me from all my fears." Psalm 91: 1-4 "Those who live in the shelter of the Most High will find rest in the shadow of the Almighty. This I declare of the Lord" He alone is my refuge, my place of safety; He is my God, and I am trusting Him. For He will rescue you from every trap and protect you from the fatal plague. He will shield you with His feathers. His faithful promises are your armor and protection." These have come to pass in my life.
