We had a number of volunteers from HFSD’s partner churches come and deep clean our preschool playground. For a few hours, they faithfully wiped down and sanitized commonly touched surfaces and toys. 👐Good News From Our Current Students👐

One of our student residents is a rock star!!🎸

Our students gain employment and reassess family relationships through out their year in residency at The Mission.

This month, one of our female students has been awarded employee of the month at her first time job! She has a history of addiction and poor choices but she has been sober for almost a year!

Let’s lift some hands as she also has the opportunity to reconnect with a special family member!

CORY’S STORY: AN UPDATE
“I wanted to give back. I can help them in so many ways, because I've gone through all of it myself.”

Remember Cory, who graduated Mission Academy in 2021? With his recent Bachelor’s degree in Social Welfare and Policy, he now works at the Rescue Mission guiding our male residents through the adjustment of community living.
“I lived on the streets of San Diego for 10 years.” Cory’s defining “God” moment happened when he came through the doors here in 2020 during the COVID lockdowns. “I came here because of Christ. All of a sudden, the whole world changed and I thought to myself, I know why I'm here. I was meant to be here. We had so many activities together and a lot of Bible studies during lockdown. It was a special time. I almost felt guilty because so many people in the world were having a bad year, but it was the best year of my life. It changed my life forever!”
Cory is still experiencing tremendous growth by sharing his testimony with others.
Thank you for sharing Cory. May God continue to bless and restore you!

Pray with us today! To celebrate National Day of Prayer, we will be praying for each other, our organization, and our county.
Would you take a few minutes out of your day to pray collectively for:
• Our neighbors living on the streets; for their safety, strength and health. That they will have hope that their current situation is not permanent, and that God has a plan for them. “For I know the plans I have for you, declares the LORD, plans to prosper you, and not harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.” Jeremiah 29:11
• Prayers for strength for our students and guests in our emergency shelter as they work through the issues that led to their homelessness.
• The work God is doing to transform lives through the Mission Academy residential program, our Children’s Center Preschool, our Emergency Shelter for women and children and our future Navigation Centers in Oceanside and National City.
• Our guests, staff and volunteers and others serving on the “front lines” to love and care for our vulnerable neighbors.
• Our national and regional leaders who are working hard to provide real solutions to our nation’s homelessness crisis.

Imagine the stress of living on the streets and trying to find a way out. Stuck.

Creating solutions is a community effort. In an attempt to change the state of homelessness in San Diego, we started a year-long faith based residential program. One of the 5 goals for completion is to experience recovery. We use a holistic approach to rehabilitation and address the mind, body and soul. The first semester teaches students to overcome issues they cannot change and utilize healthy ways to combat the stress and traumas that happen in life.

Being aware and taking care of our spiritual, medical and wellness needs is the first step to overcoming stress and becoming hopeful again.
