Staff Spotlight: Pastor Tim Yzaguirre

Meet our new Bread of Life Director, Pastor Tim Yzaguirre

The San Diego Rescue Mission has been addressing homelessness in Downtown San Diego since 1955. As a beacon for meeting the needs in our community, the Rescue Mission has remained a trusted and welcoming place for people experiencing homelessness to come and experience restoration and hope.

Recently, we united with Oceanside’s Bread of Life Rescue Mission in order to expand essential services into North County San Diego.

Bread of Life, with a rich history of serving our homeless neighbors in North County, will now become an official program of the San Diego Rescue Mission. After having to close down their winter shelter last year.

Bread of Life continues to serve people experiencing homelessness by providing:

  Meals

  Groceries

  Clothing

  Resource Navigation

  Life Skills Classes

As a program operated and fueled by volunteers and faithful supporters, Bread of Life is under Pastor Tim Yzaguirre’s lead to faithfully serve our homeless and further the impact in North County.

Tim Yzaguirre & Donnie Dee

Born and raised in Fontana, CA, Tim saw his family struggle through financial obstacles and was inspired to pursue a career in financial services.

Before coming to Bread of Life, Tim flourished in a 20+ year career in financial services culminating as a Chase Private Branch Manager. Tim has held licenses in Securities, Real Estate, Insurance, and California Financing Law.

Several years ago, God placed the Bread of Life Ministry on Tim’s heart. Following God’s lead in 2018, he stepped out in faith and left his career in finance to become the Executive Director at the Bread of Life Rescue Mission.

Tim’s heart for the Bread of Life program is that it would be a place where the church unites to love and serve Jesus and those experiencing hardship.

Tim lives in Oceanside with his wife Susan and son Brandon. They have been married 18 years and have 7 children and 15 grandchildren. They are active in their church and Tim serves as an elder.

Joining the San Diego Rescue Mission team, Tim will continue to serve as the Executive Director of the North County Campus. He is excited to see all the new ways that merging with the Rescue Mission will benefit the greater San Diego Community, and to continue to be in a place where the love of Jesus is evident to the community we serve.

Through faithful support from donors, Tim’s leadership, and the committed work of volunteers, Bread of Life has blessed thousands of struggling families and individuals in North County with groceries, dinners, utility assistance, vehicle repair, bus passes, hygiene supplies, clothing, blankets, and more since the start of COVID-19 back in March. This is twice the number of regular resources provided, totaling over $550,000 in value.

Tim’s message to you:

The adoption of Bread of Life is part of a bigger vision in our fight against homelessness. With the continued support of generous donors, the desire is to create a year-round, overnight shelter for men in Oceanside. As we actively seek out a location for the emergency shelter, we appreciate your prayers and support for Christ-centered healing in the lives of our homeless neighbors!
