Each student entering into Mission Academy spends the first 4 months of the program focusing on wellness. They will visit the doctor & dentist for health evaluations, begin therapy sessions, and adjust to life at The Mission.
Education & Training
Students then move into the education and training semester of the academy, where they pursue the next level of education or certification needed to achieve their individual goals. This includes higher education and vocational training.
Employment & Housing
Students in the third semester focus on securing employment and a place to live. Each student works closely with their Advocate to find work within their field of interest, as well as a sustainable housing option.
Each graduate from Mission Academy has the option to extend their time into a 4th semester, Graduate Housing, spanning over 6 months. This is to provide more time and support for the graduate to acquire housing. Graduates pay a small bed fee, allowing them to save money for the transition into independent life.
San Diego Rescue Mission is a non-profit homeless shelter and recovery center serving thousands of homeless, hungry, and poor men, women, and children in San Diego since 1955.
