Changing Homelessness in San Diego County
At the San Diego Rescue Mission, we’re not just responding to homelessness and poverty, we’re transforming the system. Change doesn’t come from services alone; it comes from tearing down barriers limiting access to life transformation. By uniting local leaders, businesses, and organizations across the region, we’re creating lasting solutions, opening doors, and redefining what’s possible for those in need.
The homeless crisis wasn’t created in one neighborhood at a time, and we won’t solve it that way either. When we act in isolation, people fall through the cracks. When cities work together, share data, align resources, and hold one another accountable, lives change.
The San Diego Rescue Mission is committed to breaking the silos and building a coordinated, regional pathway that moves people from the streets to stability. And we invite every city, partner, and leader to stand with us in this shared responsibility.

Mayor’s Symposium
The San Diego Rescue Mission hosts an annual Mayors Symposium, uniting leaders from every San Diego city to build a coordinated regional response to the homelessness crisis. Together, they share resources, align on best practices (like the new Shelter Ready app for real-time bed availability) and break down siloed efforts to strengthen impact across the region. Next Symposium: August 2026
