Helping Children Experiencing Homelessness
21% of homeless San Diegans are in families. Children experiencing homelessness face unthinkable challenges: health problems, tendency for delays in development, emotional distress, and more. Academically, they struggle to keep up with their peers.
Children’s Center Preschool offers early intervention, positively impacting children experiencing homelessness in our city. This early childhood education program allows a place for children to be safe and feel secure throughout the day. It helps children grow physically, socially, emotionally, cognitively and spiritually. The curriculum focuses on developing healthy social and emotional skills. With teachers trained to help children in crisis as well as those with special needs, children can grow to reach their full potential.
Our classroom is designed to be comfortable and home-like and is equipped with learning centers to spark interest and exploration. The classroom accommodates large and small group times, as well as quiet and active play times.
Children’s Center Preschool also helps families get the resources they need to become stable and healthy. Learn more about Mission Academy here.
