Emergency Shelter for Women and Children
More than 80% of women with children who experience homelessness have experienced domestic violence and family conflict. Nueva Vida Haven (NVH), our women’s emergency shelter, is actively on the front lines helping our city’s most vulnerable population. NVH Provides a safe place to sleep, as well as hot meals, clothing, hygiene products, and access to warm showers each night. Women come to Nueva Vida Haven are looking for a new life, and we are here to support them.
While San Diego sleeps, we serve as many as 60 women and children each night. Each guest of the shelter receives case management specific to their situation, helping them to determine the best course of action to reach their individual goals. Oftentimes this includes entry into our long-term recovery program for women and children, Mission Academy.
No matter what the outcome, the women and children served receive more than a safe night’s sleep. They experience healing, love, and hope.
